THE CLOWN SHOW II

Past August was invited for Emirati local artist and curator Sumayyah Al Suwaidi to participate in the Ramadan Art Bazaar exhibition at Ghaf Art Gallery in Abu Dhabi, along with other talented local and expat artists.
I prepared a series of four artworks: drawings done over wood. Here below the first sketches and the final work. Images of the work process will come.

El pasado mes de Agosto fuí invitada por la artista y curadora Emirati Sumayyah Al Suwaidi para participar en la exhibición colectiva Ramadan Art Bazaar en la Galeria de Arte Ghaf en Abu Dhabi, junto a otros talentosos artistas locales y extranjeros.

Esta vez preparé una serie de 4 trabajos sobre madera. Aquí algunas imágenes de los primeros sketches y el trabajo final.

Four different girls with different gestures. This is a series of drawings I did for an arts exhibition here in Dubai. All done with watercolours, graphito, and ink over wood. Here some images of the different stages of my work.

STREET ART WITHOUT BORDERS EXHIBITION

This March, I was kindly invited by Tatiana Faure, Director of ProArt Gallery in Dubai, to be one of the artist at "Street Art Without Borders", an exhibition which reunites the works of some prominent street artists like Banksy (UK), the artist collective Faile (US), Thierry Guetta (France), The London Police, among other great artists. Two of my artworks are up in the show, so proud being part of this group.
The exhibition will be up till March 31st, so, if you are in the city or about to come to Dubai, you are kindly invited to visit the show. Here, some images of the artworks displayed and the opening night.

Este mes de Marzo fui cordialmente invitada por Tatiana Faure, Directora de la galeria ProArt en Dubai, a participar en "Street Art Without Borders" ("Arte Urbano sin fronteras"), exhibición que reune algunos de los trabajos de destacados artistas "urbanos o callejeros" como Banksy de Reino Unido, el colectivo Faile de Estados Unidos, Thierry Guetta de Francia, The London Police, entre otros grandes artistas. Dos de mis trabajos están siendo exhibidos en la muestra, realmente un orgullo ser parte de este grupo de artistas.

La exhibición estará abierta al público hasta el 31 de este mes, si te encuentras en la ciudad o estar por venir, estás invitado a visitar la muestra. Aquí algunas imágenes de la noche de inauguración:

WORLDS TOGETHER EXHIBITION

"Worlds Together", a collective exhibition in which I'm having part, reunits eight UAE based artist from different countries. The opening is tomorrow Sunday 16th at Marsam Mattar Gallery in Dubai. Pictures of the artworks I am presenting and of the opening will come soon.

"Worlds Together", es una exhibición colectiva que reune a ocho artistas de diferentes paises, residentes en Emiratos Arabes Unidos. En la atmósfera de la noche...

Esta ilustración es una de las doce que están incluidas en la agenda de ilustraciones que realizé. Todos los detalles en el post anterior.

ILLUSTRATION BOOK JOURNAL

This is a personal project I developed for self-promotion.
This 80 pages journal, contains 12 black and white illustrations and two full color illustrations on the cover and in the back cover. Some illustrations where done specially for the book, (like the back cover illustration) the others are a selection of some works I have done some time before.

Este es un proyecto personal que desarrollé con fines promocionales.
Esta pequeña agenda de 80 páginas, contiene 12 ilustraciones en blanco y negro y dos ilustraciones a full color para la tapa y contratapa. Algunas de las ilustraciones fueron hechas especialmente para ésta agenda (como la ilustración de la contratapa), el resto es una selección de algunos de los trabajos que he realizado anteriormente.

This illustration is a modified one from the original. This illustration was conceived to be more provocative; a couple of women in an ethereal and romantic but at the same time, in an emotional strong scene. But, since I choose this one as cover illustration of my journal, I decided to make some changes. This journal was printed and distributed here in Dubai, UAE, and of course I had to consider some important issues here, like tradition, values, religion, and respect for the local culture. I didn't want my book journal to be censored, so my original women couple turned into a ballet dancers in a play. I feel good with the final version, more feminine and less crude from the original I guess, but I like that.

Esta ilustración es una modificación del original. La idea del dibujo fue concebido para ser mas provocador; dos mujeres en una etérea y romántica, pero al mismo tiempo, emocionalmente fuerte escena. Pero, desde el momento en que elegí éste como dibujo para la tapa, decidí que tenía que hacer algunos cambios. Esta agenda fue impresa y distribuida en Dubai, Emiratos Arabes, y porsupuesto tenía que considerar algunos importantes factores aquí como las tradiciones, valores, la religión, y el respeto por la cultural local. Por supuesto no quería que mi pequeño libro fuera censurado, así que, mi original pareja de mujeres desnudas se convirtió en una pareja de danzarinas de ballet interprentando una obra. Más femenino, menos crudo con respecto del original, pero me gusta el resultado de la versión final.
